About this deal

There’s room on the Playseat Challenge for your pedals too, of course. They sit on foam-lined metal frame bars that curl up at the end, to avoid you pushing the pedal set off into the distance when you depress the brake. The metal frame has a free-twisting hinge at its middle, and Playseat uses a series of chunky velcro pads to both attach the seat part and stop the whole thing from collapsing to the floor. See those almost armrest-like parts to each side? They are heavy-duty velcro pads that hold the chair up.

It supports all the big brands in Sim Racing hardware, like Fanatec, Moza Racing, Heusinkveld, Asetek, and more too, which is an added bonus for future-proofing your setup. Like the Trophy, the Playseat Challenge X — Logitech G Edition is sturdy, comfortable, and makes for a fun racing experience. Assembly Logitech helps all people pursue their passions and is committed to doing so in a way that is good for people and the planet. Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, Logitech International is a Swiss public company listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (LOGN) and on the Nasdaq Global Select Market (LOGI). Find Logitech G at logitechG.com, the company blog, or @LogitechG. At first glance, the Playseat Challenge doesn't scream comfort. Compared to a number of other racing chairs, even those like the Evolution we previously looked at from the same manufacturer, it looks a bit odd. Instead of sitting bolt upright, you sink into the seat. But it works. It really does. There was a considerable amount of collaboration on this product to make the Challenge X more functional, comfortable and overall, a better racing experience, than traditional desktop gaming chairs. During that process our teams focused on three key areas of a sim racing chair and we couldn’t be more happy with the results.” said Jim Hoey, head of simulation marketing at Logitech G.

Nailed it

Buying a rig is one of the most important parts to complete your set ups and most of the time people do overlook this piece of equipment, usually spending all of their money on a top of the line wheel base, rim and pedals. These are things you might want to keep in mind if you’re shopping on a tight budget, especially if you want to save against spending more than necessary to upgrade your setup in the future. How much should I spend on a Sim Racing Rig? The pedal assembly has three means of adjustment. The first allows you to extend or shorten the distance of the pedals based on your leg length. The second adjustment allows you to adjust the angle of the pedals by removing a bolt on each side and using a second set of holes. Finally, the third way lets you extend the pedals a bit further if you are a bit taller than most. If you do, however, while it will still fold up, it won’t fold up quite as compactly anymore. The GT Lite features two metal plates to mount pedals – which we can help you choose in our 2023 Buyer’s Guide – that can be set at a raised angle or placed flat on the floor depending on the user’s preference. All in all, this makes the Playseat Evolution massively accessible to all Sim Racers working on a budget.

There’s also (you guessed it) an optional velcro strap that can be used to more firmly cement the board to the metal runners.

Overview

Equipped with gearshift mount, allowing you to upgrade your race experience with the Logitech G Driving Force Shifter. Given you might assume this is a “weedy” racing wheel seat, I’ve been impressed by how sturdy it feels as you actually drive. While there’s more flex if you drive under pressure, you’re generally moving along with it thanks to the frame design. It’s much less distracting than the “wobble” of a stand where the wheel is held up using a column sat between your legs. The wheel plate flips open to make it easy to get in and out of the Playseat Challenge X — Logitech G Edition sim racing seat frame.

The most expensive rig in this list is the Pro Simrig PSR3. It’s far from entry-level but is probably the cheapest rig you can buy that’s made from aluminium profiles. This means that it’s really, really strong, has nearly zero movement when under heavy load and can handle the strongest of direct drive wheelbases. A high-end Rennsport rig that is designed for Fanatec’s Direct Drive wheels would be as useful for a Thrustmaster TMX as a fold-up solution would be for a 32Nm Simucube 2 Ultimate – the key takeaway being that your rig must be suitable for your setup, amongst many other requirements: Whilst we will do everything we can to meet the delivery times above, there may be factors outside of our control and we cannot guarantee delivery within this time frame.Assembling the Playseat Challenge X — Logitech G Edition took me about an hour to assemble, including attaching the G923 pedals and wheel to it. The instructions were bang on and I had no issues following them. The seat consists of 18 pieces in total, as well as two Allen Keys, 22 bolts, and 6 cable management clips. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you. The Playseat Challenge X – Logitech G Edition features three new enhanced upgrades, including X-Adapt™ seat adjustments, ActiFit™️ breathable material and a hard mounted pedal plate with tilt positioning. The new Playseat Challenge X – Logitech G Edition features: The Challenge X weighs around 25 lbs (without the wheel), with a G923 attached that brings it up to around 36lbs — much lighter than the combined 48 lbs you would have with the Trophy. While still somewhat heavy, it is light enough to carry and move around without much issues.
