About this deal

I wanted a little more color to Tarvitz and Vipus fate should be death, but I think they deserved an on-page death.

But the coming of the Imperium brings new concerns and a new destiny for the Lion as part of the Great Crusade, and the sons of Caliban must decide if they will follow him to glory among the stars. I'm quite happy how he's developed in Galaxy in Flames, and I actually find myself eager to learn about what he's getting up to with Sindermann, Keeler, Oliton and Garro on the Eisenstein. There's some great stuff in here, especially in terms of action, and the way that Ben portrays Angron in battle without succumbing to what must be the overwhelming urge to overdo it is spine tingling. In False Gods, we saw a Horus who was torn between what to do and was slowly being pushed towards his inevitable decline into chaos. Awakened screaming by a premonition of the virus strike, Euphrati Keeler transmits the vision to Sindermann and Mersadie Oliton, who realise the betrayal that is about to take place.

Having recovered from his grievous injuries, Warmaster Horus leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Istvaan III. I'm aware that the next books in the Horus Heresy series will now pick on small events and highlight specific Legions rather than covering the overall arc as these first three have done. Even though i feel the VIIth legion is not one to embellish themselves in pomp and finery like the Emperors Children or the Blood Angels, I did decide to add a cloak to my praetor but kept it demure and simple.

I've read a few reviews that the writing is poor, that the prose detaches all the intelligent development from the previous two novels. The battle of Istvan III is a long one, longer than all the ones in the previous 2 books packed together, an epic and bloody tale of death and betrayal like an ancient greek tragedy. There is such an intriguing fear of religion, the supernatural, and sorcery in the first two books, and the switch to embrace it by the betrayers is surprising (but no less dramatic). You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.
