About this deal

The college has adopted the popular Harvard style as presented in the The Cite-Them-Righttext (10th edition) text book and so this book clearly provides the most comprehensive level of support. Harvard referencing style uses author-date in-text citations, which means including the author’s last name and the publication year of the source, like this: (Smith, 2019). A bibliography includes sources you have referred to in the body of your text AND sources that were part of your background reading that you did not use in your assignment. For other sources listed under the ‘Legal’ heading in CTR OSCOLA, and primary sources of law that you find in non-OU publications, use the CTR OSCOLA guidance to construct the footnote. For other ways to do Harvard referencing, including ways that are specific to different universities, see our list of Harvard referencing versions.
