Soft-dome tweeter with optimised waveguide provides smooth, pristine and articulate highs up to 35kHz The KRK Rokit 5 G4's EQ extras won it two categories – features and setup. This extra flexibility to tweak the speakers to your room – and its fantastic implementation – just seems so head and shoulders above what the Yamaha offers (and just about anything else at this price point) that it almost makes it a done deal for the KRKs. One ends up relying on decibel measuring apps, which end up being a sonic goose chase to configure the sweet spot. To shape the high end, KRK built a peak, and shelving EQ. The High Shelf allows for cuts of -2dB at 10 kHz. The other option allows for using both the High Peak and High Shelf filters in tandem. Note that the third generation (G3) series did not have the Kevlar woofer and tweeter. This is a great addition for the G4 since it is able to have the best features that are added by this woofer. But why Kevlar? Recently, most studio monitor creators have been adding the Kevlar woofer and tweeter in their units, now KRK included. When added in with great engineering and precision, the Kevlar speaker ensures that there is a consistent distribution of sound in the studio monitor. That way, you are able to hear very clear conics and even single out any faint errors you may have made during recording without any strain.

Features

A new low resonance speaker enclosure features a revamped front-firing port, offering exceptional low-end extension, punch and flexible room-positioning. High density open cell acoustic Iso-foam pads decouple the speaker from the surface minimizing vibration transmission for improved clarity. That is by no means a rule, but it is worth keeping in mind that for some rooms, smaller monitors coupled with a sub can be the better choice, rather than two large near-field monitors.

All three models exhibited what we could call the full, punchy ROKIT sound signature, with great bass extension for their size.
